Professor of economics at Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin – University of Applied Sciences (HTW), from 1993 until 2014. Retired since then. Member of the Research Cluster “Money, Trade, Finance and Development” at HTW. Since 2014 Senior Research Fellow at Economic Policy Institute (IMK) within Hans-Böckler-Foundation, Düsseldorf.

Co-founder of “Macroeconomic Policy Studies” (MPS), 2000-2009, funded by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany and the People’s Bank of China (Central Bank). Three months training courses of young professionals of PBoC in Berlin. In 2003, he founded the master’s programme “International and Development Economics” (MIDE) at HTW Berlin. Since 1996, member of the Coordination Group of the “Forum Macroeconomics and Macroeconomic Policies” (FMM) at IMK in Hans-Böckler-Foundation. From 2009 until 2013 Co-Director of the cooperation project “Money, Finance, Trade and Development”, a cooperation with 11 Universities in developing countries., funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Member on behalf of the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB-Bundesvorstand) of the “Kuratorium”, a supervisory body of Hans-Böckler-Foundation (until 2016).
